About Dr. Deepak Yadav

Dr. Deepak Yadav was born at Konch, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, North state of India. He started his academic life since the age of 3 by approaching his mother after seeing hundreds of college students passing through his house to attend schools. His mother enrolled him in Saraswati Shishu Mandir, a school chain run by Vidya Bharati. At the tender age of 9 he participated in a state level scholarship programme during which he came to know about boarding school and it’s academic environment. The academic quest made him to again search those schools.

His father facilitated him to apply in the boarding school of Uttar Pradesh. But at the age of 9 no secondary school allowed him to enter as minimum age for secondary school was fixed  10 years. As little Yadav  was determined to experiment with the new kind of education far from home he waited for one long year as well as repeated the same class for next year. He then joined the PT. Deen Dayal Inter College in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

His experiment with the new hostel atmosphere proved beneficial due to which he met students from all over India that expanded is vision further.

His 7 years stint of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Inter College provided him insight about the larger realities of India. He became more aware about the world and made a good use of his time in the college library. The books, national as well as international, moulded his interest in History and other Social Sciences. When students of Deen Dayal Inter College were engaged in play ground his mental ground was flooded with the ideas of Marx and Antonio Gramsci. The teachers of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Inter College inculcated the idea of nationalism and patriotism in young Deepak.

In 1995 after passing secondary school young Deepak had a challenge to earn a career but his mind was full of societal problems and their solution.

He joined DAV Degree College to pursue graduation in History. When started to be fascinated with ancient heritage and culture of India he decided to join Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He enrolled himself in the MA programme of Ancient History in CHS.

JNU gave him a true international exposure. Under the visionary tutelage of Professor B D Chattopadhyaya, Professor Kunal Chakrabarty Professor Kumkum Roy and Professor R Mahalakshmi he was able to understand the nuances of research methods as well as comprehensive understanding of India.

Professor Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, Professor Harbans Mukhia, Professor Mujaffar Alam, Professor Aditya Mukherjee, Professor Mridula Mukherjee, Professor Tanika Sircar and Professor Neeladri Bhattacharya etched a permanent understanding of Indian past, contemporary History, the Colonial design of British Empire, the evolution of Indian Economy, Geographical factors of History making and role of Class in the making of identity in Indian society.

These ideas formed the basis of understanding of Dr. Yadav. During the study he found the whole 100 volumes of Collected work of Mahatma Gandhi. He became mesmerised with immense writing by father of the nation. This also inspired him to write immensely. He started writing articles for magazines and newspapers.

His stint as a journalist proved fruitful but he pulled focussed towards academic research under the abled guidance of Dr. Mahalakshmi. Dr. Mahalakshmi engaged him in rigorous academic work and also provided the opportunity to do some international projects as a researcher. His visit to Sri Lanka and South Korea broaden his horizon and also showed the importance of institution making for the nation building.

During his PHD he opened Universal IAS in 2014 to streamline the knowledge about Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). His knowledge of History of India proved a catalyst to open this institute as he got to know that India can be a World Power only by making its political and administrative system strong enough to think about India, it’s people and their empowerment.

Universal IAS is running by Foundation for Developed India (FDI). FDI was established in 2018 to actualise the idea of Developed India by empowering its people.
